In every generation Rabbis and scholars have written Responsa to
local or distant congregations to clarify Daat Torah - the stance of the
Torah to the questions of the everyday world.

Maharshal has compiled to date nine volumes of Indices to Responsa
covering the greater part of the Orech Haim Section of Shulkan Aruch.
The Responsa books referred to in the index, over
a thousand in number, cover the period of Jewish Scholarship from the
Geonim to the Ahronim (From about 700 CE to the present). As opposed to
a computer index each Responsa is chosen reviewed and edited to be
appropriate with the chapter and Halacha with which it is assocaiated.
The Otsar Sheelot and Teshuvot is the only work of its kind on Shulkan
Aruch Orech Haim.
